On February 12, the Technology Transfer Unit (TETU) facilitated an online meeting on "DigiFarming: A Digital Management of Farmer's Profile and Agricultural Production for Balanga City Agricultural Office," a research initiative led by Dean Maria Lolita Masangcap of the College of Computer Studies (CCST). The project introduces a web-based platform designed to streamline agricultural data management and provide farmers with SMS notifications for timely updates. Mr. Ronnie Lopez of the Balanga City Agricultural Office (CAO) attended the discussion.
Dean Masangcap demonstrated how DigiFarming enables event creation, video conferencing, and detailed farm profiles, including activity modules to assist in agricultural planning. The platform aims to centralize key farming information while ensuring farmers receive automated text alerts. CAO confirmed plans to request an End User Training from the research proponents to explore its applications and a possible partnership.
With TETU facilitating the discussion, DigiFarming moves closer to practical implementation, offering a structured, technology-driven approach to farm management. The initiative is expected to enhance agricultural coordination in the City of Balanga, equipping farmers with better access to information and digital tools to support their work.
