BPSU TETU pushes forward during DOST III's 1st Fairness Opinion Board Meeting for Soft-boned Milkfish Technology Transfer

The BPSU Technology Transfer Unit (TETU) took another step forward in its technology transfer process for the “Herb-enhanced Soft-boned Milkfish” technology during the 1st Fairness Opinion Board (FOB) Meeting hosted by the Department of Science and Technology Region III (DOST III) via Zoom, May 5.
Ms. Cris Pearl G. Rivera of BPSU TETU provided an overview of the university's previous initiatives involving the technology, including recent engagements with the prospective licensee. Mr. Mark Nell Corpuz, faculty researcher and proponent of the technology, presented its background, development process, and results from preliminary market validation.
The presentations were reviewed by three experts: Mr. Aljon N. Lusong, Technical Expert and Department Head of Extension and Services Management at Tarlac State University; Ms. Fidela P. Bongat, Financial Expert and Business Development Division Head at the Philippine Rice Research Institute; and Atty. Patricia A. O. Bunye, Intellectual Property and Legal Expert and Senior/Managing Partner at Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia.
Also present were Mr. Randy Valencia, Unit Head of Technical Consultancy and Training (TCT) Services of DOST III; Mr. Gil Silva and Ms. Dolly Silva, owners of La D'Dis Farm Resort OPC; Dr. John Ryan C. Dizon, Director of the BPSU Technology Entrepreneurship and Transfer Office (TETO); Ar. Abigail S. Cruz-Catapang, Manager of the BPSU Technology Transfer Unit (TETU); representatives from the BPSU SINAG Agribusiness and Technology Business Incubator (ATBI), where La D'Dis is an incubatee; and staff from BPSU TETU. The meeting served as a significant checkpoint in the effort to establish a clear and secure licensing pathway for the technology.
