Concept Map Relay
Provide a main topic or concept from the course.
In pairs or small groups, students start building a concept map with at least 3 branches.
After 2-3 minutes, pass the map to another group who adds more connections or examples.
Repeat as many times as you want.
Whole-Group Debrief
Pick 1-2 maps to share and have the students explain the connections they made.
Have 2-3 students share how seeing other students' connections impacted their own thinking.
Have 1-2 students share what they think makes concept mapping more useful than a traditional outline.
Additional Strategies for Organizing Ideas
Share additional strategies for organizing ideas and have student share what they think those strategies are best for and when/how they've used the strategies.
