Which one? I don’t know
Sushi
Hands move fast. Shaping,
Rolling, rice, fish, veggies too
What is it? Sushi
A pretty picture
The child puts a piece
Then another as she forms
A pretty picture
Haiku
I have to write a
Haiku. Here I am writing
That is my haiku
My name is blue
I’m a ball
Small and
Round
And
Blue
I’m really happy though
I live in a
Metal bowl
With my 3 friends
Red, green, and green
Green and green are twins!
My day often starts like this
“Hey guys, wake up!” Red screams in our ears
“Why? We’re tired.” I respond grouchily
“Yeah.” Greens say at the same time.
For the rest of our day
We talk some more,
Watch,
And
Play
And if
We’re lucky
We get bounced!
BFF’s
I’m a magnet
I’m putty
We’re bffs!
We live together
in a tin
I’m magnetic putty
So she sticks to me
And I stick to her
And when our
Human bean
Plays with us we have twice
The fun!
I’m a magnet
I’m putty
Together we are
magic.
The string of fate
The string of life
Keep it, hide it, love it, never forget it,
Her last words
I kept it, hid it, loved it, and never forgot it
All these years and when the time is right it’ll
Use itself
Never needing it, I never understood why I needed it.
But then poof gone
My Liza left
Sadness overtaking me
Poof gone
My Jackie left
Had nothing left
But my promise
Kept it, hid it, loved, and never forgot it all my life.
Wasn’t till now as a old lady when I realized
What it was for
To keep me going even when my world was falling apart
Thank you string of life
Before & Now
Before:
we went to school,
a brick building,
We saw
many faces, talked
to many people,
and touched many things.
I miss that
Now:
We stay in our homes,
whether that's a small apartment or a brownstone in brooklyn .
See only family in person, friends on zoom, seeing ½ the faces we’re used to.
Before: Our smiles were seen.
I miss that
Now: smiles, hidden under masks.
Confined.
Before: People dying but from normal causes,
Now: People dying from sickness now.
Good things and bad things before,
Bad things and good things now.
Good before: saw friends more.
Good now: family more.
Good things and bad things always going to happen.
Can’t stop that.
Your passport to the world.
Food is your passport to the world
Even at home it takes you on a trip
Every taste of something new from somewhere new
Adds a stamp
Savor mundu (Korean dumplings)
A
s you add stamp from Korea to your passport
Now eat up the delicious halo-halo and
Add a stamp from the
P
hilippines
As you eat, you travel the world
By having a little taste from all over
And by the time you’ve eaten a lot, you know a little about
Each and
Every place
So take this trip around the world
Without even leaving your kitchen
Uh oh, will there be snow?
Will the next generation know snow?
Or will I have to tell stories of sleds?
Sadness awaits for the next generations
that may not know
The soft white blanket that falls
Gracefully from the sky, so cold you could die
Even I haven’t gone sledding in 2 or 3 years
Even I don’t remember when we had the last big snow
Even I don’t remember the last time I made a snowman
Now I see snow as small flakes falling down
Only sometimes and even if it does
It's not enough for sleds and all the things snow is for
Or
I see it when I leave my home and go up north
To snowboard,
to feel the wind in my face,
to have the joy of rushing down a mountain
But even then
The snow is often made by people
And even then
I don’t go sledding
If I’m lucky only a snowball fight.
If all of that happens now, I doubt
The next generations will see
Snow, though it's our fault
The next generations will not
see snow

If you're always thinking,
does that mean
I'm thinking of what to think?
which is what I’m thinking
which is what I thought
which is what I’m thinking?
Please stop me
it goes
On endlessly
Wonders
What do I wonder?
I don’t know
What do I wonder?
Why should I tell you?
My wonders are for me and only sometimes you
What do I wonder?
Too much too fast
What do I wonder?
How should I know?
I wonder things in a moment, hard for me to keep them in one place, in an hour or a week or 2 minutes
I’ll remember
or I’ll wonder more since I’m always wondering, you know.
Happy Birthday
One song
Never gets old
Sing it to the-
young or the old or anywhere in between
Don’t matter if you’re
Turning 3 or maybe 10 or 17 or 33 you even can be turning 99. this song
Can be sung for anyone.
The song is simple, sometimes slow sometimes
Fast
“Happy birthday!” you sang
That’s one song that never
Gets old

A mini yellow sun,
Bright when needed, dull and colorless when not,
A white shade,
White as clouds in the sky
Smooth as paper
As it surrounds the
mini yellow sun
No, it's not floating in plain air
A gold post holds it
Up
It’s shiny like a
Mermaids tail
And together,
When all the pieces come together, the
Mini yellow sun, the white as clouds and
smooth as paper shade surrounds, and
the gold and shiny as a mermaid's tail post, holding it all up
Together they make a

Mine
All mine
My space to escape,
To be by myself
A
Rough red brick wall
Bright white wall
Light ever so light blue wall
Yellow handles to my closet
Don’t know why I picked those out
A bed with a soft blanket
Pressed up against the bricks
My dresser in the bed
My bed in the dresser
Bookshelves and books line the walls
A small desk in between 2 of them. Pictures
Above like a scrapbook on a wall
Bins live below the desk
Art hangs on my wall above my bed
Some I like but others, why did I pick those?
Light shines in
Casting a ray inside
A small soft rug
is there
Right in
the ray of light
Might not like
some of the things inn here
but I
Like enough
And it makes me happy
and calm
And it's my room
My sanctuary
Mine all mine
George Floyd
A man on the ground
A knee in his neck
Yells and screams “I can't breathe!”
8 minutes it took for George Floyd to die
8 minutes that Derek Chauvin could’ve
Saved
That man’s life
8 minutes people screamed, yet nothing they could do
For that 8 minutes were protected by 3 armed cops
Watching
a man die,
silent,
not caring
8 minutes that showed how Floyd was
Nothing more than a piece of gum, discarded under a table.
Now I ask, how could Chauvin
Kill this man, this man who had a daughter,
A family?
I don’t know, all I know is that George Floyd
Should be alive
Brilliance
A stroke
of brilliance
Takes only
a peaceful queen
Savor

Is an awesome food just
Like guacamole!
