THE ARCHMAGE AND HIS CAT
The archmage and his cat were an amazing duo
They sliced through baddies like gel.
Suddenly, Enemiez arrived.
And the final battle came
It was a fair fight, they say
T
hey battled night and day
B
ut soon the archmage was tired
C
asting spells all day
The cat did the best he could
B
ut Enemiez was stronger
I
t was by a lucky shot
T
hat the archmage saved the day!
I used to
Look at computers
And think
“Video games”
Now i look
At computers
And think
School
Quarantine
Zoom
Google classroom
Frustration
Now and then
Then and now
They are different
In many ways.
MAGICATS!
Cats
Are magic
And magic
Is cats
Mew they say
And cast a spell.
Mrow they call
And their assistant comes
Kazam!
Abracadabra!
Whoosh!
Boom!
Those are fake magic sounds
Made by non-cat-and-magic people.
Spells are complicated
And cats are cute.
MY MIND
Do dragons exist?
What about magic?
Does that exist?
In my mind they do.
Dragons flying
With riders casting spells
Rocket shuttles
Taking people to faraway planets
Why don’t humans have wings?
What about cats?
Meowing and
Catching birds for that is what they do
Why do planes fly?
Why do rockets fly?
In my mind
They are powered by
My mind
And the complexity of it
People say I have an active imagination
And that’s true.
Why did the cat eat the tuna?
You are my food
I love eating you
Day and night
Night and day
Yum
Yum
Yay!
SPACE
Why do humans need oxygen?
I want to float.
Just in general
Nowhere in particular
I just want to float.
Why do humans need oxygen?
I want to swim with the turtles.
Why do humans need oxygen?
I want to go where none have gone before.
I do not know,
That is why I ask.
ODE TO MY CATS
Boris
He reads the thesaurus
And lies around all day
And he doesn’t pay
But he makes
Up for it
With his cuteness.
Breakfast
Curls up in the box’s nexus
Until night is nigh
Then she jumps high
But she makes up for it
By snuggling with me
And being amazing.
But
No matter what they do
I still love them
Mew
ODE TO THE BEATLES
Oh, The Beatles
Your songs admit thee
To the world of music
Let it be
John Lennon,
Not a lemon,
One of the greatest musicians of all time!
A master of rhyme
Paul’s playing personally!
George says go gig time!
Ringo’s ringing repetitively!
John jabbin and jumpin!
Oh, but alas
The band broke up,
But before that they went undercover as
SARGENT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BANNNNNND!
It is a pillow, but better
Feels like a cat in the moonlight
Looks like snow
But also
Dark as the night
I could fall asleep on it
A bean bag.
outside harmful
inside safe
cozy bean bag
Oh thy dented sphere with infinite loop and rectangle,
Your colors are breathtaking
For white, black, amber, brown, beige, green and red
You make me think of the cat.
And cold nights by the fire,
How ‘bout that?
Your little cute ears by the fireplace,
Make me want to sleep
You hear thumping, breathing, scratching, shifting
You are soft and furry yet hard and rough
Below you is a diagonal pattern,
Above a person and a laurel wreath
There is darkness behind you,
And you radiate happiness, warmth, and comfort!
You are a beanbag.
Hovering, shimmering emeralds, beautiful as the night sky
Our world, our earth is neither everlasting nor infinite or purple
Commenting on the sugary dessert
The mirror does not reflect the soul and neither does the computer
Zooming and movement, oh my!
I dream of riding to the beyond on a craft made of timber
The internet has many words, none of them ours
The excitement does not end when there is food and music
The number of schedules I have...
Most people smile from their heart.
