Panther.
----------------------
It’s sleak black fur, as dark as night. A blur, as it dashes out of sight. A true predator, who gives prey such fright.
Cliff
---------------------
I sit out on the jut of maiden's cliff, feeling the wind blow through the trees. Just to think of what this breeze has done, almost fills me with dread. We can see beyond this land, to the snowcapped mountain tops, and watch as the birds soar in the sky, where nothing can make them stop. The blue expanse we call the sea stretches out in front of me, and from there I can see everything under me.
Revival
A newt’s toe,
A spider’s pie
Some powdered roach
An eye for an eye
The bone of a warrior
The heart of a cat
The weapon of a coward
The wing of a bat.
Mix them together and you’ll get,
Revival soup, to make someone come back.
Preparations
Buy the chicken,
Add some lemon,
And just a sprig of powdered bacon.
Put it in the oven for an hour,
Then serve warm, and as you eat and feel the flavors power,
And enjoy.
Haikus
The bird hops
And circles around the empty feeder
With a window right next to it
The chipmunk scurries
Picking up the unwanted scraps
Of food that was not for it
Its wings a blur,
The hummingbird sticks its beak into the nectar,
And sips with glee
The darker skinned were chained
But they prevailed
Their rights weren't obtained
But they fought it
And even when their leaders were told to sit
They wouldn't stop
And fought the judgement, even if it came from the top.
And today they still fight for their equality
And to stop the racist frivolity.
