ICS the STCK/IY Situations

ICS the STCK/IY Situations

This campaign is to help our employees Identify, Control, and Survive the STCK/IY Situations or those hazards or behaviors that can kill or significantly injure a person, a.k.a. the Stuff That Can Kill/Injure You on the job site. Each industry and division will face different STCK/IY Situations relevant to their scope of work.

Each division will identify its top 3 to 5 STCK/IY Situations to focus on this year for its goals to mitigate Significant Injuries and Fatalities from occurring within their division.

STCK/IY Situations Common in Construction

  • Working from Elevated Positions

  • Struck-by Incidents

  • Caught-between

  • Electrical Incidents

  • Arc Flash/Blast

  • Poor Housekeeping

  • Distracted Driving

  • Airborne and Material Exposure

  • Excessive Noise and Vibration

  • Material Handling

  • Operating/Working Around Mobile Equipment

  • Trench Collapse

Along with the common hazards in construction, BHI has identified activities that we conduct and their hazards and controls. These Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) are designed to look like our Job Safe Analysis (JSA) to make it easier for employees to identify and control hazards related to their work.

These can, and should, be used to identify each division's top 3-5 STCK/IY Situations to focus on each year.
