Important Dates:
October 21-22: All Sophomores and Juniors will have the opportunity to take the PSAT Exam on our campus
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) - or PSAT for short - is an exam typically taken by high school Sophomores and Juniors to practice for the SAT and qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. It also offers additional opportunities for potential scholarships and additional benefits of personalized feedback to help students prepare for college and career planning.
The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. Thus, it is a great tool for students considering college. This test can also open doors for opportunities to help prepare and pay for college as the highest performers can earn scholarships. Benjamin Franklin High School recommends that students take the PSAT in their Junior year in order to receive feedback about strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships (11th graders), and to help prepare for the SAT. BFHS students have a long-standing tradition of achieving excellence on the PSAT!
All interested 10th and 11th grade students register and pay for the test. Check back when the links to pay for the exam are posted.
