School Council

All about the School Council

The school council is a team of 20-25 enthusiastic and friendly  students, a mix of all year groups and houses, who are selected by writing a letter of application with our ideas, strengths and interests to Mrs Gradley at the beginning of the school year.

We meet fortnightly during academic monitoring and we represent another avenue for student voice, giving feedback on all areas of school life and new possible ideas. We choose the charities that our school fundraises for via non-uniform days and coffee mornings.

Aims 2023-24

This year we aim to link Black History Month, our BGS Afro Caribbean Society (ACS) and SickleCellSociety.org together across all year groups via assemblies and fundraising. We also want to provide play & recreational equipment from students at lunch time, and our third aim is to promote inter-form unity with team building activities.
