Academic Council

Who are the Academic Council?

The academic council comprises of two students from each year group, nominated by the Director of Studies.

The main focus of the group is to represent the student's voices on matters which directly relate to teaching and learning across the school.  The council meet once every two weeks during an academic monitoring time.  Most recently students have been feeding back on how we can increase the time dedicated to reading for pleasure and also completing surveys linking to areas of focus in a number of department learning team reviews.  During the learning team reviews students work with members of the senior team.

Member Perspectives

If you've ever said to yourself that you'd like to make change happen then I highly recommend you join a council group.  I am a member of the academic council.  This group ensures that our voices are heard and that we can contribute to the development of our school society, which I love!

Millie, Year 9

The academic council helps students voice their opinions and feel heard.  We survey student opinions on key aspects about teaching and learning and discuss how we can develop areas of school life, such as reading for fun.  Teachers ask us about our thoughts and we provide valuable feedback.
