BCTN
Bethel Community Transition Network
Building a community for students to have infinite possibilities for their future.
Goal of BCTN
BCTN prepares and assists young adults with individual education needs to enter the adult world. BCTN is for 18 to 21 year old individuals on an IEP who are eligible for special services. Students continue development in the areas of Community Work and Community Living with a strong emphasis on social and interpersonal skills. The goal is for each person to learn how to be resilient in the transition from school services to meeting the challenges of everyday living.

The other half of the school day students are at BCTN working on community living classes. BCTN is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. The school bus is able to provide transportation for every student. Students are able to receive a free LTD bus pass during the school year. I've been interested in supporting individuals with special needs since junior high and pursued that into college. I've worked with this population from those in kindergarten to adulthood. I started at Bethel in 2019, and this is my first year at BCTN. I enjoy thinking outside the box, which allows me to support students with their unique needs. In my freetime I help my family, animals; and enjoy the ocean! I'm always learning about Oregon since moving from Colorado!

My passion is helping students to represent the best version of themselves and accomplish their goals by creating a positive and professional work environment. Two of my favorite mantras are 1) meet people where they are at, and 2) don't take things personally.
I have a bachelors of science in Speech and Hearing Science from Arizona State University and I'm currently applying for a graduate program in Communications Disorders at University of Oregon so I can become a speech language pathologist (SLP).
I speak conversational Spanish, French, and Swedish and hope to use these skills in my future career. I love to travel all over the world (25 countries and 28 states...so far) and typically spend my summers working at an international swing dance camp in the Swedish countryside. I also love all things outdoors: roller-skating, swimming, cycling, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, and mushroom hunting. Lastly, I love experimenting with recipes from all over the world.
