At BCTN, we believe every young adult deserves the opportunity to build a meaningful, independent, and fulfilling life after high school. Our program is designed specifically for individuals ages 18–21 who have individualized education programs (IEPs) and are eligible for special services.
BCTN supports students in continuing their personal growth and skill development beyond the traditional classroom. Through hands-on experiences in Community Work and Community Living, students learn to navigate real-world environments with confidence and purpose. Our approach emphasizes the importance of social and interpersonal skill-building, self-advocacy, and independent decision-making, which are essential for success in adult life.
We recognize that the transition from school to adulthood can be both exciting and challenging. That’s why our team works closely with each student to create individualized opportunities that foster resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging in the community. Whether it’s developing job skills, building friendships, or learning to manage daily responsibilities, our goal is to help every young adult discover their strengths and realize their potential.
At BCTN, we don’t just prepare students for life after school — we prepare them to thrive in it.

With over 20 years of experience in Special Education, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting students and helping them succeed. Since 2012, I’ve proudly served as the BCTN Teacher and Program Coordinator. I earned my Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Oregon in 2007, followed by a Master’s of Science in Middle/Secondary Special Education in 2009.
I am incredibly passionate about my work and the students I serve, always striving to create an inclusive, empowering, and community-focused learning environment. I believe in the power of building strong relationships—not just with students, but also with families and the broader community, which play a vital role in helping every student thrive.
As a 9th-generation Applegate in Oregon, my family’s history is an essential part of who I am. I’m proud of my roots and the legacy of hard work, perseverance, and connection to the land and community that has shaped my values. This deep sense of tradition informs my work and my commitment to creating strong, supportive connections with the families and communities I serve.
Outside of my professional life, I’m a proud mother of two amazing children. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I cherish spending quality time with them. I’m also an advocate for the outdoors and staying active, as I believe a healthy balance of work, play, and connection is essential for personal growth.

I started at the BCTN in 2022. Every year brings new challenges and new joys to share with students. I enjoy helping students realize their goals and watching them grow into their independence. I speak conversational German and have been studying Italian. I enjoy drawing and knitting when my cats decide they don't need my undivided attention. Luckily they are behave well enough to keep houseplants and a personal goal is to cultivate a bonsai tree. I love working with students to make things in the kitchen, both cooking and baking from scratch if we have the time!

I've been interested in supporting individuals with special needs since junior high and pursued that into college. I've worked with this population from those in kindergarten to adulthood. I started at Bethel in 2019, and this is my first year at BCTN. I enjoy thinking outside the box, which allows me to support students with their unique needs. In my freetime I help my family, animals; and enjoy the ocean! I'm always learning about Oregon since moving from Colorado!
