The BCTN students had an absolute blast at Defy Trampoline Park on the last day of school before spring break! Hearing so many of them say it was ‘the best day of their life’ made it even more special. We love seeing our students smile, build relationships, and experience new opportunities. It truly was an unforgettable day!
A huge "thank you" to the Bethel Education Foundation (BEF) grant funds for making this opportunity possible with their generous donation. Their support means the world to our students!
It was another great day to be a BCTN Student! The students have been working on living everyday in the moment, to be mindful of others, and to appreciate the simple things life has to offer.
U of O winter term 2024 student teacher Chris:
Thank you for teaching the BCTN students about healthy relationships, job skills, community resources, and budgeting. We are proud to know you!
The BCTN students were able to go to a trampoline park and have some fun as a celebration marking the end of 1st Semester. This opportunity was funded by our generous donors with the Bethel Education Foundation (BEF). The BCTN program used specific funds under our new grant this school year “Uplifting Spirits”.
The BCTN students went to our local favorite Thrift Store for our community outing covering our personal finance unit. Wait until you see all the skills they worked on!
BCTN was awarded grant funding for the 2023/2024 school year from the Bethel Education Foundation(BEF). The grant funding is for student enrichment activities including: social skills, community integration, cooking, eating out, and overall supports with social and emotional health.
On this outing before winter break students were able to ride the city bus across town to visit a new location many had never explored. Students did team building while bowling and got to order a lunch item from a restaurant.
The BCTN students were able to attend a Symphony at the Eugene Hult Center. The students were introduced to to the Orchestra and the exhilarating world of orchestras and all of its parts: the instrument families - strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, and the conductor. For many of the students this was their first time going to see a Symphony.
This group of BCTN students each got to have $1.00 to spend using Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) funds. They went to a store called “Club Thrift”, that sells new Amazon returns. Today was $1.00 day. On this exciting outing students not only had FUN they worked on a variety of transferable transition skills such as:
Community Inclusion, Community Safety, City Bus Planning & Bus Trip, Time Management, Budgeting/Next Dollar, Stranger Awareness , Social Skills, Self Management, Self Advocacy, many more!
The BCTN students went on a team building exploration bus trip together. Living in the Bethel area is a rural part of town with not as much culture as other parts of the Eugene area. The purpose of our city bus trips with students is to show them that there is a larger area of the city they live in and to teach them how to ride the city bus. The students on this trip got to go bowling together and take a break from their volunteer job sites and let loose! Many of them have not gone bowling in years, and or also have never been to many of the venues and businesses we explored. New friends and new experiences happened as the students enter their weekend hopefully feeling that they are capable of anything they wish to try in life! They truly each found something new in this Friday Adventure!
