Listen to the story: Five Silly Turkeys
Cut out turkeys using brown construction paper. Label each turkey with a numeral from 1 – 10. Match the correct number with clothespins (as pictured), feathers, or construction paper shapes!
Draw a turkey and have your child match colors using Fruit Loops cereal
Where is Mr. Turkey?
Game Instructions:
Instead of saying “warmer or cooler” you gobble!
One player is the hunter and the others are helpers.
The hunter leaves the room.
The helpers hide a small toy turkey or a turkey cut-out, or laminated drawing, etc.
The hunter returns with a mission to find the turkey. Helpers give clues by “gobbling” like turkeys.
If the hunter is not close, the helpers gobble very quietly. As the hunter gets closer, the helpers gobble more and more loudly until Mr. Turkey is found!
Turkey Strut (Musical Chairs)
Directions:
Use pieces of masking tape to make turkey footprints all over the floor.
Start playing music.
Have children pretend to be turkeys and strut around the room.
When you stop the music, have the turkeys find footprints to stand on (one turkey to a footprint).
When you start the music again, have the turkeys continue strutting around the room.
Use your fingers to be turkeys in the song OR print out these to use while you sing!
Turkey starts with T!! Practice making the T sound and finding things around your house that start with the SAME sound! (Turtle, tape, train, tiger)
Veggie Straw Turkeys
Make a turkey face on the outside of a plastic cup
Fill the cup with veggie straws for the feathers and GOBBLE them up!
Pretzel Stick Turkeys
Dip pretzel sticks in melted chocolate
To give it texture, before the chocolate hardens, roll it in rice cereal.
Finally, add candy corn for the feathers
Fruit and Veggie Turkey Ideas:
With a grown up nearby to help, slice some fruit (apples, bananas, strawberries) or veggies (carrots, celery, peppers)
In a small dish or bowl, make a dip to go with your fruits/veggies
Then, arrange your snacks to look like colorful turkey feathers!
Print out the turkey cutting lines and practice cutting on a straight line
