Apple Sorting
Get a variety of apples from the grocery store in different colors and sizes.
Have your child sort the apples by color.
Have your child sort the apples by size.
Help your child count how many are in each pile.
Ask your child,
Which pile has the most?
Which has the least?
Which kind is your favorite?
Have your child practice the letters in their name by doing this apple tree name activity.
Play Pass the Apple
Play just like Hot Potato.
The children pass an apple until the music stops. Whoever is holding it when the music stops, is sent to the apple patch (the center of the circle or other designated area at your home)

Homemade Applesauce
Follow the recipe below to make homemade applesauce with your child.
While making this your child is working on following directions. Make sure to simplify directions.
Have fun eating your applesauce when you are finished.
See if your child can recall the steps you took to make the applesauce
Playdough Apples
Use Red, Green and Yellow playdough.
Have your child make different sized apples by rolling out the playdough with their hands to make a ball.
You can help your child make a paper apple tree.
Your child can place the playdough apples on the tree.
This helps to develop fine motor skills, such as pincher grasp and hand strength. This strength with help them with handwriting down the road.
Apple Printing/Painting
Apples ( 1 or 2)
Paper plates (3)
Paint- red, green, yellow
Plain white paper
Adult cuts the apples in half
Look at the apple with your child.
Talk about the parts of the apple:
Stem, seeds, skin
Put a different color paint on each plate.
Ask your child to name the colors.
Put an apple with each plate.
Have your child dip the apple cut side down in the paint, pick it up and place it down on the paper to make apple prints. Continue until the paper is covered.
