Preschool and kindergarten children may return to behaviors they have outgrown. For example, toileting accidents, bed-wetting, or being frightened about being separated from their parents/caregivers. They may also have tantrums or a hard time sleeping.
Listen to this helpers song by Daniel Tiger's Neighhood and talk to your child able helpers they may see in their neighborhood.
Now that we are into coat season it is important to help teach your child to zipper their coat independently. Check out these two articles with tips for teaching zipper skills.
How to Teach a Child to Zipper Their Coat:
The simple act of zippering a coat requires: bilateral coordination, finger isolation, open thumb web space, separation of the two sides of the hand (on BOTH hands), motor planning, pinch strength, eye-hand coordination, pincer grasp, and tripod grasp (most often of the non-dominant hand). Whew! It’s no wonder that teaching kids how to zipper can be such a complicated orchestration of fine motor skills! -Colleen Beck OT
