The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help parents and teachers support kids with behaviors. The whole idea is to start with teaching kids about different emotions and doing lots of different fun activities to help them learn. We talk about feelings a lot and validate whatever a child is feeling. We teach them that feeling big emotions is okay! Teaching kids about the tools needed to regulate these emotions is also a big part of this program. You can print this packet and put it in a binder to review how your child is feeling and discuss different tools to help regulate these emotions as well.
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) is support with behaviors that you can apply for your child. A psychologist evaluates your child and determine goals, along with your help. A behavior technician can work with your child at home or at his preschool/childcare along with the guidance of a Behavioral Specialist or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). They also determine hours needed to support his or her goals. There are agencies in Berks County to choose from. Sometimes there are wait lists so keep that in mind before applying.
