Ice Cream

Make ice cream cones from paper and put numbers on them.

Have your child roll out balls of playdough.  Have your child put the correct number of scoops on each cone.

Have your child smash the scoops of ice cream as they count them!

ICE CREAM IN A BAG RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup half and half (cream and milk)

¼ tsp vanilla

1 TBSP sugar

3 cups ice

⅓ cup kosher or rock salt

Gallon size zip top bag(s)

Quart size zip top bag(s)

Sprinkles, chocolate sauce, fruit (optional but really “the best part” ingredients!)

HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM IN A BAG

STEP 1. Place the ice and salt in a gallon size bag; set aside. 

STEP 2. In a smaller bag mix together half and half, vanilla and sugar. Make sure to seal the bag tightly.

STEP 3. Place the smaller bag inside the gallon size bag.  Shake the bags for about 5 minutes until your milk is solid.

Make sure to use gloves as the bag gets very cold

You will need:

1 sugar cone and 1 mandarin orange/clementine for each child!

Have the children balance the oranges on top of their cones.  Then, line them up next to each other for the starting point of the race. Set a finish line for them to cross or stand there (as I did) and be the finish line.  When you say ‘go’ have the children run towards the finish line holding the cone away from their bodies balancing the mandarin orange.

1. Cut your potatoes in half. ( Parents) 

2. Dip your potatoes in paint and place on paper in ice cream cone design. 

3. While the ice cream shape paint is still wet add a touch of sprinkles, push slightly down with your fingers so that they stay secure once dried. 

4. Once your paint is dry add a red pom pom to your ice cream cones.

5. Cut out ice cream cone shapes out of your construction paper and glue below ice cream scoops.
