Nearly all of the printers at BC are available for you to install via Self Service. Please check under the Printers section. Self Service will automatically install and name the printer, along with any required software. For your own printers at home, attach it and go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and click the + button.
When printing a document, you may want to make changes to the default printing behavior. A good example of this is 2 sided printing. The Canon copiers default to 2 sided. If you want to easily set them to 1 sided, you can use a preset.
Click print on a document.
Change any settings you wish to save (2 sided printing settings are under the Finishing tab). If you don't see the full settings screen, click on Show Details.
Before clicking print, select Presets and then Save Current Settings as Preset.
Give the preset a name.
From now on you can always apply those same settings by selecting the preset before clicking Print.
If you add a printer using this step, you would need to know your printer’s IP address. Here’s how you can find your printer’s IP address. Once you know this information, you would just have to go to System Preferences then add the printer from the Printers & Scanners menu. Here’s how you can do this step by step.
Click the Apple icon.
Open to System Preferences.
Click on Printers and Scanners.
Then click on the + sign below the list of printers.
Click on the IP icon. This will look like a blue globe icon.
Type your printer’s IP address in the Address field. Your Mac will try to gather information about the printer.
If you don’t know your printer’s IP address, see Mr. Mabry.
Rename the printer if you want to.
In the Use field, choose the print driver you would like to use.
Click Add.
