Creating an Unlisted Youtube Channel

It's important to follow all of these steps, so that your videos are private to just you & your teacher. You should ONLY be creating a Youtube channel on your Berkeley Carroll account for school-related purposes. All videos must remain "Unlisted."

Follow the steps to create your unlisted channel, add your teacher as a "Manager" of the channel, and upload a video to your channel!

Go to youtube.com, and sign in with your Berkeley Carroll email address

(If you see your profile icon, you're already signed in!)

2. Click on your profile icon & then Click "Create a Channel"

3. Click "Get Started"

4. Click "Select" under 'Use your name'

Important: Do NOT select 'Use a custom name'

5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Click "Set Up Later"

Don't customize any of the options on this page, it isn't necessary...

6. You should now be on this page...

Adding Your Teacher as a Channel Manager

1. Click "Youtube Studio"

2. Click "Settings" on the left-hand menu

3. Click "Permissions"

4. Click "Invite"

5a. Enter your teacher's email address under 'Email' (make sure you spell it right!)

5b. Set "Access" to 'Manager'

5c. Click "Done"

6. Click "Save" to send the Invite

Upload Your Video

1. From the Youtube Studio Channel Dashboard, Click "Upload Video"

You can also do this from the Channel home page (not the Youtube Studio page)

2. Click "Select Files"

3. Your 'Files' App will pop up. Find the video on your Chromebook (it will probably be under "Videos")

Your video will have to be loaded on your Chromebook already, for it to go onto the Youtube channel. If it is not on your Chromebook and you need help doing this, reach out to your teacher.

4. Wait for your video to load completely (it may take awhile, but you can see the progress at the bottom).

While it is uploading, you can change the details, such as the Title and Description of the video.

5. When it has finished uploading completely, Click "Next."

It still has to "Process" after this, which may take a few more minutes!!

6. Set your video status to 'Unlisted'

This is really important!! Your video should NOT be made Public, but it has to be made 'Unlisted' for your teacher to see it.

7. Then Click "Save"

8. Click "Next" on the Video Elements screen

The options on this page should be grayed out

9. Select, "Yes, it's made for kids," then Click "Next"

This is important, because it restricts the sponsored ads that come on after your video

10. Your video will then say it is 'Processing' but you can Click "Close" while it is doing this

You can close the box and it will continue processing. Processing is different than uploading, and might take a while depending on the file size.

11. Click "Videos" to check on the status of your video.

When it no longer says "Processing" and shows a thumbnail image, and description, it has finished loaded.

Make sure once again that your video is UNLISTED! You can click the video thumbnail to watch your video, or copy the URL.

Embed Your Video Into a Google Slide

1. On your YouTube channel page, Click "Your Videos" and then click on the video you want to embed

2. Copy the entire "URL" of your video page (that is the "youtube.com/watch..." part at the top of the Chrome browser)

3. Now in your Slide, Click "Insert" and then "Video"

4. Click "By URL", and then Paste your Youtube URL into the box. Then Click "Select" at the bottom.

6. Your video will now appear on your slide. You can make it bigger, or move it around!
