The "Call for Proposals" for our Spring 2026 Professional Learning day is currently open.
Please see the information below for available opportunities.
The theme for the BCPS February 9 Professional Learning day is “The Perfect Mix: Collaborate & Innovate in '26.” Depending on your role, that might mean:
Measuring out the ingredients to promote student engagement
Turning up the heat on student achievement in the classroom, on the stage, or in the gym
Finding the secret sauce for a positive classroom culture
. Please interpret this theme in a way that is meaningful to your professional practice.
We want to highlight the exceptional talents of our educators across Bedford County. We are looking for teachers, counselors, LTAs, librarians, and administrators [just to name a few] who are committed to their craft and focused on impacting students. The BCPS Strategic Framework states “Establish a culture of excellence by providing professional learning that facilitates the individual growth of all staff members to broaden job skills and enhance job performance so that students continue to be supported by high-quality employees.”
If you are ready to create THE PERFECT MIX within your own practice, then we want to hear from you!
We have 2 different options, so you can select which you are most comfortable with.
Do you have effective strategies to share? What protocols and procedures positively impact student
outcomes? What resources can you share with your peers?
Successful submissions will:
Demonstrate effective instructional strategies that will positively impact student achievement.
Present a clearly-articulated plan for audience engagement.
Provide participants with strategies ready to implement immediately upon return to the classroom.
Allow for thoughtful collaboration and networking among participants to deepen understanding of curriculum and/or student learning.
Connect to one of the seven Professional Learning Pathways in BCPS.
Presenters will earn 20 recertification points.
Do you think it would be beneficial for all 3rd-grade reading teachers to get together and share best practices? Or, would you love to see all elementary art teachers get together and determine how you can integrate the core curriculum into your practice?
If so, I invite you to submit a proposal to host a facilitated discussion. You will not be giving a formal presentation per se, but you would have a planned agenda with discussion items for a targeted audience. You would be responsible for ensuring off-task discussion is minimized and that the time is used productively.
Hosts of a facilitated discussion will earn 10 recertification points.
If you would like to submit a proposal or coordinate a facilitated discussion for the February 6 division professional learning day, please submit the following FORM by Friday November 7, 2025. You will then be contacted regarding acceptance and to finalize additional details.
Employees who have attended a professional learning conference or workshop during 2024-2025 and/or during the 2025-2026 school year will be contacted directly to submit a proposal.
