Watch the following video up to minute 2:20. Then answer the following questions:
How many examiners are there?
How many candidates can you see?
How is the interaction pattern?
Do candidates talk among themselves?
How long are the interventions of each candidate?
What phrase does the interviewer say to signal you have to stop speaking?
Be polite and friendly when you meet the examiners and the other candidate.
Listen carefully to the examiner’s questions. If you don’t understand something, politely ask him or her to repeat it (e.g. Could you repeat that, please?).
Make sure you speak loudly and clearly enough for the examiners and your partner to hear you. Be confident!
Use body language (nodding, smiling, being interested at what the other candidate is saying).
The first questions are about personal info. The last ones are more elaborated.
Don’t just reply yes or no to the questions. Take 20 secs to answer the questions.
No dead air!
Don’t try to give a speech or repeat sentences that you prepared earlier. Use a wide range of grammar and vocabulary. For example:
Q - Do you like your job?
A - Yes. (too short 😖)
---
Q - Do you like your job?
A - Yes, it is good. Having a job is good and my job is good. (no variety of vocab 🤔)
---
Q - Do you like your job?
A - Yes and no! I mean, it's a challenge and the work is varied. But sometimes the workload is overwhelming and my work-life balance suffers. (awesome! 😀)
