Year Two

Rochester & Upnor Class

In year 2, we have enjoyed learning about living things and their habitats. We started off our learning journey by exploring things that are living, dead or have never been alive. We then begun investigating micro habitats which led our learning to then understand how these fitted into larger scale habitats.

The children particularly enjoyed linking and exploring our science learning to our central idea of 'how life on earth depends on harmony between all living things'. This gave the children ample opportunity to delve into big issues in the world such as plastic pollution and deforestation.

During science week, we were incredibly lucky to welcome John Halladay to Year 2 from Greenpeace. This was a very thoughtful and provoking presentation in which all of the children remained open-minded for and have since enjoyed taking action to create improved harmony between living things!
