This week in Maths, Year One have been exploring numbers up to 20 and investigating the different ways they can be represented. The children have been using a range of practical resources to show numbers in different forms and to explore how these representations change when we find one more or one less. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing confidence as they explained their thinking and worked hands-on with the equipment.
In English, the children have been learning all about compound words. They enjoyed spotting familiar compound words and then creating some of their own, showing great creativity and an increasing awareness of how words can be joined together to create new meanings.
As part of our Inquiry learning, we have been focusing on responsibilities and discussing the different responsibilities we have at home, in school, and within our wider community. The children shared thoughtful ideas and showed a great understanding of how everyone can play a part in helping others and taking care of the world around them.
Another busy and productive week for Year One — well done to all our fantastic learners!
