Another fantastic week in Reception! We have all enjoyed beginning to unpick our central idea, “Patterns help us understand the world.” The children have been learning what a pattern is and exploring where patterns can be found in our environment. As part of this learning, we have looked at the work of artists Bridget Riley and Paul Klee, using their artwork to inspire discussion and creativity.
In maths, we have continued to investigate numbers 0–5. The children have been exploring one more and one less, as well as developing their understanding of conceptual subitising up to 5.
In phonics, we have learned the sounds /j/ and /b/, practising recognising, saying, and using these sounds in words.
It has been a busy and exciting week of learning, and we are very proud of the children’s enthusiasm and engagement.
