Year 2 have been very thoughtful and reflective learners throughout the week. In geography, the children explored aerial photographs and maps of our local area, developing their understanding of how maps represent places. They also learned how to use a key, discussing what the symbols mean and why they are important. In reading, our focus was on the roles of an author and an illustrator, using Roald Dahl—our end-of-day author—as inspiration for thoughtful discussions.
The children have also been enthusiastically rehearsing for our upcoming nativity, practising their songs and thinking carefully about how to be performance ready. In history, we continued our work on the development of transport, learning about key inventions and events that have shaped travel over time. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and focus across all areas of learning.
