Come on, people! Capitalization should NOT be an issue by 7th Grade. Always capitalize:
The first word of a sentence.
The pandemic has changed the world.
The pronoun I.
One wish I have is that we can go to school soon.
Proper nouns like your name. You and everyone else are important. Letters must stand TALL when names are given.
Yesterday, was Lynda's birthday.
Title of a book or informational article.
We are reading The Outsiders.
The first time you use BrainPop, login via Clever via the Student Portal.
After that you, you might be able to jump directly to the lesson here.
Play this free Capitalization Cruise video game to practice your skills.
Your brilliance needs to be shared with the world! Make sure that you write complete sentences. Once in a while a fragment is used as a stylistic choice, but 99.5% of the time the sentence must have a subject, verb and complete thought.
Subject = Who is doing the action.
Verb = Action
Complete thought = Additional information so the sentence makes sense.
To practice your skills, log in with Google and play the Complete Sentence Sorting: The Quest for the Complete Sentence game. Only play the game if it is free. I believe there is limited number of times you can play. I will search for free games in the future.

A run-on sentence is when you run thoughts together. You are brilliant!! Let your readers know this by allowing them to rest with a period at the end of a thought.
Huge rule - if you think you should use the word and, use a period instead. Start a new sentence to start a new thought. Hemingwayapp can help you identify run-on sentences, but it will NOT tell you how to fix it.
BCSD purchased a Brainpop license. Log in with Clever to review this Run-On Sentence lesson.
One tool you can use to highlight possible run-on sentences is Hemingwayapp. The highlighted sentences say, "Hey, look at me!" The free web app does not tell you when you properly fix the sentence, but it is an excellent start. Watch the Hemingwayapp video to learn how to use the free tool.
Typos happen. If you make a lot of typos, then you need to practice your spelling.
One way to improve your spelling is to break words into syllables. Play the Spelling Long Words Adventure video game to practice. Login with Google. Only play the game if it is free. I believe there is limited number of times you can play. I will search for free games in the future.
Typos happen. We all misspell words - either as a typo or because we are not sure how to spell the word. Install the free version of Grammarly to help you identify some of the mistakes. If Grammarly does not find mistakes on your Google Site or Doc, copy and paste into their app. Click here to learn more about the extension that is advertised on almost all YouTube videos.
In elementary school, you became an expert in FANBOYS - For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So. Now it is time to push your writing skills even higher. Use the list below to clarify ideas.
Play videos to practice transitional phrases! Play Transition Bugs: Star Rumble. You will need to login with Google. Only play the game if it is free. I believe there is limited number of times you can play. I will search for free games in the future.
