First Time Attendees

MBG Welcomes New Attendees 

If this is your first MBG Convention as a seasoned basket weaver or are attending for the first time as a newer basket weaver, we are happy you will be coming and want to make it an enjoyable experience! Be sure to check “First Time Attendee” on your registration form. First Time attendees receive an MBG name tag holder and a special gift during check-in at the convention registration desk.

Basket Buddies - If you are a first-time attendee and wish to be paired with a Basket Buddy, please mark the corresponding checkbox on the registration form. You will be contacted at a later time with your Basket Buddies’ name and contact information. Your Basket Buddy will be able to guide you through class assignments and answer any questions about the events throughout the Convention. They will also be able to help you with unfamiliar basket weaving terms and techniques. For more information about Basket Buddies contact buddies-mbg@basketweavers.org.

First time students are eligible to win the First Time Attendee Curry Scholarship and Woven Circle Guild’s First Time awards which will be drawn during the Awards Night activities. Must be present to win. 

As a First Time attendee, if you were encouraged by an MBG Member who is also attending the Convention, please include their name in the referral space provided on the registration form. The attending referring MBG member will receive Referral Vendor Bucks to spend with participating vendors.

We also offer free membership to the guild for the first year for first-time members. To qualify you must never have been a member of MBG. (See Membership)
