The Pennsylvania Academic Standards establish the knowledge and skills students are expected to learn at each grade level and in each subject area. These standards serve as the foundation for curriculum development, instruction, and assessment in public schools throughout the Commonwealth.
At Bellefonte Area School District, our curriculum is aligned to Pennsylvania's Academic Standards to ensure students are meeting state expectations and are prepared for future learning opportunities. While the standards provide important learning targets, they represent the minimum expectations for student learning.
Our teachers and curriculum teams work to provide learning experiences that go beyond the standards by encouraging critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, collaboration, communication, and real-world application of knowledge. Through high-quality instructional resources, engaging learning experiences, and a focus on student growth, we strive to provide students with opportunities to develop skills and competencies that extend beyond state requirements.
