The Bellefonte Area School District Mathematics program is designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, build strong problem-solving skills, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Through engaging learning experiences, students learn to reason mathematically, communicate their thinking, make connections between concepts, and persevere through challenging tasks.
Our mathematics curriculum is aligned to Pennsylvania Academic Standards and reflects current research and best practices in mathematics instruction. In addition to developing computational fluency, students are encouraged to think critically, analyze patterns, justify their reasoning, and use mathematics to solve real-world problems.
As part of the district's curriculum review cycle, the mathematics program is currently engaged in a comprehensive curriculum review and implementation process. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Bellefonte Area School District will implement new mathematics resources designed to support rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning experiences across grade levels.
Families and community members will find curriculum documents that provide insight into the mathematics learning experience across the district. Depending on where a grade level or course falls within the curriculum review cycle, available resources may include curriculum maps, instructional frameworks, vertical standards alignment documents, and curriculum storyboards.
Together, these resources help communicate what students are expected to learn, how mathematical understanding develops over time, and the experiences that support student growth as mathematicians.
