Bellefonte Area School District utilizes a comprehensive system of instructional resources to support mathematics learning in kindergarten through grade 12. Following a two-year curriculum review process involving teachers, administrators, instructional specialists, classroom observations, resource pilots, and school visits, the district selected a new collection of mathematics resources designed to strengthen student understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.
Our mathematics program is built on the belief that all students can learn mathematics at high levels when provided with engaging tasks, meaningful discussions, and opportunities to make sense of mathematical ideas. Rather than focusing solely on memorizing procedures, students are encouraged to explore concepts, explain their thinking, make connections, and apply mathematics to real-world situations.

Imagine IM (Grades K–8): Imagine IM serves as the district's core mathematics curriculum in kindergarten through eighth grade. The program emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and procedural fluency through engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences. Students regularly work through rich mathematical tasks, collaborate with peers, explain their thinking, and build deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
Students receive a consumable workbook for each unit of study, allowing them to record their thinking, represent mathematical ideas, solve problems, and reflect on their learning. These workbooks support the daily learning experiences facilitated by the teacher and provide families with a helpful window into the mathematics students are learning.
Teachers in grades K–8 also have access to grade-specific manipulative kits containing hands-on materials that help students explore and represent mathematical concepts. In grades K–5, teachers have additional center kits that support collaborative practice, skill development, and differentiated learning through the program’s instructional centers.

*Note: During the 2026–27 school year, students enrolled in Grade 7 Advanced Mathematics will use the Imagine IM Grade 7 curriculum as their core resource. This ensures that students receive instruction in all Grade 7 mathematics standards without gaps in their learning.
Although the advanced and regular Grade 7 courses use the same core resource, the learning experiences within the courses are not identical. In the advanced course, teachers will adjust instruction based on students’ readiness, move more efficiently through concepts students have mastered, and provide opportunities for greater depth, complexity, independence, and mathematical reasoning. Students will engage in more challenging applications, extended problem-solving, and enrichment designed to prepare them for future accelerated coursework.
The district will begin using the Imagine IM Grade 7 Accelerated course in 2027–28 with students who complete Grade 6 Accelerated in 2026–27. These two courses are designed as a connected sequence: Grade 6 Accelerated includes all Grade 6 standards and part of the Grade 7 content, while Grade 7 Accelerated completes the remaining Grade 7 content and includes all Grade 8 standards. Together, the courses prepare students to take Algebra I in Grade 8.
Waiting until 2027–28 to implement the Grade 7 accelerated resource protects students from missing important Grade 7 concepts while allowing the district to establish a coherent and appropriately challenging accelerated pathway.
Pearson Mathematics (Grades 9–12): Pearson Mathematics serves as the district's core mathematics resource at the high school level. The program supports students as they engage with increasingly advanced mathematical concepts while developing problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and real-world application of mathematics. In addition to the adopted textbooks below, the district also purchased student access to MyLabMath, a digital platform that provides digital access to course resources and study tools.
Imagine Math Facts (Grades 1–5): Imagine Facts is a supplemental resource that helps students develop fluency with basic math facts. Through personalized practice and engaging activities, students strengthen their automatic recall of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, allowing them to devote more cognitive energy to solving complex mathematical problems.
Imagine Math (Grades 3–5): Imagine Math is a supplemental digital learning resource used to provide additional support and enrichment opportunities for students. The program offers personalized pathways that reinforce grade-level concepts, provide targeted practice, and help teachers address individual student needs.
Get More Math (Grades 6–Algebra I): Get More Math is a supplemental mathematics resource that provides students with ongoing opportunities to review previously learned concepts while strengthening current skills. Through regular spiral review and targeted practice, students build retention, increase confidence, and maintain proficiency across multiple mathematical domains. The program helps students make connections among concepts and supports long-term mathematical growth.
