It was a day blessed in sun.
Twill be a day of love and fun.
I was so stunned I could have been shot.
My third son will tie the knot.
I pick up my tux in the car.
Makes me feel like a movie star.
I put on my suit and comb my hair.
If I go out will people stare.
A morning wedding was the plan.
When Doug and Suz would walk hand in hand.
This is a show I won't ever miss.
It'll be the first time I see them kiss.
Many people will be there.
Handsome young men and women fair.
Standing and smiling for pictures taken.
This standing around gets my back a aching.
Bride and groom would walk down the isle.
This'll cost somebody quite a pile.
Do not fear and do not fret.
In about 10 years you'll be out of debt.
This is the marriage of my third son.
Happening in the town of Hamilton.
He and Suz are starting it right.
As a couple they're a mighty fine sight.
They were set up from the start.
And my wife Chris did a major part.
She told Doug to use the phony.
And because of this we have matrimony.
With her white dress and his black sox.
You really ought see them box.
With her uppercut and strong right.
Doug would never win a fight.
Before the wedding they'll be crying.
Because they're in the tanning booth a frying.
And after the wedding they won't be seen.
They'll be on a plane for the Caribbean.
I hope they have a wonderful life.
One with a minimum of strife.
A life with beauty and contentment.
If they read this poem please no resentment.
Suz is a good looking chick.
One I'm happy Doug did pick.
Those two are as happy as can be.
They'll make a fine branch on our family tree.
The End.
