Distinguishing Physical Properties:
This sample obviously has a metallic luster, and when you pick it up, it is surprisingly heavy for its size.
Another mineral looks like a "box". The planes of its cleavage faces are at right angle sides, meaning one side intersects with the other at about 90 degrees. There are three planes making it "Cubic Cleavage". Note that on several sides there are small "steps", reinforcing the evidence that these are planes of weakness or cleavage.
The surface has scratches across it - it does not scratch glass, and it is easily scratched by a steel nail.
