Suggested Activities
1. Generate the first four topic ideas that come to mind as soon as you read each category.
People - Historical or contemporary famous individuals or groups
Places - Somewhere you have visited or would like to visit. The place can be in history or current location.
Objects- Consider historical monuments, famous natural wonders, and fictional things from film or literature.
Events - Think about the global, state, and local events from various periods.
Ideas/Concepts - A theory or comparison and contrast of ideas
Processes/How to do something - This could be steps of a process on how something works or how to complete a specific task.
2. Locate an online time zone converter. Select a state across the country as well as another country, and determine what time your speech would begin in those locations if scheduled for 9:00 am in your local time zone. What differences might this make in the delivery of your presentation? What choices would you make to ensure all audience members remain engaged regardless of the time of day?
3. Open Zoom (https://zoom.us/) and create the most professional lighting and camera angle possible for a presentation designed to pitch a product or idea to a group of investors.
Note any changes that you made and why. Then screen capture that shot for future reference. Did you have to move your digital device? Did you locate an appropriate background photo? Why did you make these specific choices?
