Research and organization you are interested in working for or admire. Look specifically at the “About” or “About Us” section of the website. What does the company stand for, what is their vision or mission? How would you dress for an interview? What would you include in your personal pitch for an interview?
Conduct a virtual interview with a classmate, friend, or family member. Have them ask you the top 5 interview questions, and then ask them to critique your responses as well as your nonverbal (tone, facial expression, posture, etc.) communication.
Watch Robin Ryan’s Job Interviewing for New College Grads. Write down at least five tips she shares and then study and implement them for your next interview.
Develop your own personal pitch using the guidelines from this chapter. Practice and perform your pitch so you can deliver confidently when you are asked, “Tell me about yourself.”
