January Roar Rally
By: Snow
This month we had a January roar rally on January 29th. This roar rally was very exciting for many reasons. It started off with the spirit committee getting together and cheering every last student of Mansion Avenue into the auditorium. Once all of the students were seated, the spirit committee made their way up to the front of the all-purpose room and prepared to announce their student of the month to the whole school! With kids screaming, roaring, and cheering, names of many students announced into the air as the joyful students of the month ran up the aisle to acquire their certificates. Pictures were taken of the smiles and joys on the kids' faces.
Many more announcements were made by clubs including helping paws, and student council. The student council made an announcement about how they have recently gained 2,000 pounds of plastic, achieving their goal to get a bench for MAS. Then the roar rally broke into a skit. At MAS every roar rally the teachers and sometimes students perform a skit to remind the students about showing their roar expectations. This time the skit was about making sure that when you order your lunch in the morning, you buy it at lunch time, and not the other way around. This year the theme movie is Encanto, so in the movie, there is a multigenerational Columbian family and all of them except one have a magical gift. The teachers are all a different person in the family, and they try to bring the movie to life while teaching an educational life lesson. There was a student involved in this skit, and the staff did a very good job at performing the characters, and making it magical. These are just a few key points in our January roar rally at MAS. If you ever visit Mansion Avenue, you would be missing out if you did not attend one of our monthly, exciting and fantastic roar rallies!
The Pancake Breakfast was so fun the food was so good and it was really fun. You could either choose from plain pancakes or chocolate pancakes. There were toppings like whipped cream sprinkles and chocolate syrup. Also when you got to your seat that you picked and got to sit with your friends there was a juice box there. Then after you're done eating and throwing all your trash away you would tell one of the teachers. When you told the teachers they would bring you to the activity where you would paint a turkey ornament. Once you finish painting your turkey ornament you will put it on a plastic bag that says your name with all the stuff inside to help you hang it. At the end of the day they will call your grade down and tell you to come get your ornament. It would already be in the bag so I have to do is take it home and then hang it. As you can see the pancake breakfast is really fun this year.

Roar Rallies
By: Cupcake
Roar Rallies happen every last Friday of the month. They usually happen at the end of the day, after 6th grade lunch. During Roar Rallies they show the students of the month, a skit, any special things like what Helping Paws Club did, and this year they added a raffle you can win.
To become a student of the month you must follow your ROAR expectations. R for respect, O for ownership, A for achievement, and R for responsibility. The Spirit Committee announces the names for each class, starting with grade 3 and ending with grade 6. If you get student of the month you get a certificate with your name on it.
Each year there is a theme throughout the school, this year the theme is Inside Out. Using the theme, staff members at Mansion join together to show us a hilarious skit. Some of the characters are Sadness, Joy, Fear, Disgust, Anger, Riley, and Bing-Bong is still yet to be shown. Although they are funny they have big meanings behind them. Like one time there were girls at Riley's school and they were putting toilet paper all over the bathroom, Riley’s emotions told her not to join them because it didn't show Roar expectations.
Sometimes they will make announcements about Helping Paws Club. For example, the amount of money raised for breast cancer, Unite For Her. Each month Helping Paws tries to raise money and donations for people. Like a food drive in fall or a pajama drive during winter.
This year they added a raffle for students to win. To get a raffle ticket they must spend 5 paws on a ticket for a chance to win. You have to put your first and last name and homeroom teacher on the ticket. There are different items in the basket each month. And that is what happens during a Roar Rally.
Freedom of speech at the lunch room?
By: Hectic Hockey
A few of the new lunch ladies have enforced the “No Talking In The Halls” rule very harshly. I understand not talking to disrupt third grade classes but can we whisper, or even talk at a low tone of voice? For example, I tested my experiment. I watched two people walk by and they were talking to each other at a normal tone, it distracted the whole class. But about a week later, when two other students came walking and talking to each other, all I could see were their mouths moving. It was astounding that my theory worked. My point is that we should at least be able to whisper in the halls as long as we are quiet.
The Monster Mash
By.Busy Bee
If you did not go to the Monster Mash this year I will totally recommend it. You do a bunch of fun things. There were three stations. One of them was monster bingo. We used M&M as chips and if you won you could get a bunch of cool things. Some of them were a pencil, monster fingers, and necklaces you could build and many more. Other games you do are outside games. One of the games were you had a skeleton hand and had to walk around a cone with a ball on it. Another one was you had to throw ping pong balls into the ghost mouth. The last one was a game where you had to throw rings on a little pole. You also got walking tacos and rice krispies treats.. You can get whatever you want on the walking tacos. They were so good. We also got to watch a movie while eating them. These are the activities we did at The Monster Mash.
Spring Craft
This month for only 20 paws you could have bought the spring craft which revolved around 3 sections. First was the painting you could pick out of a star, flower, and heart, and then you would paint it with one of the different paints. I picked the flower and painted it with green paint . Once you finished the painting you went onto the next section where you made your mini creacher that you glued onto your wooden shape. The four mini creatchers you could make were a softball, baseball, sheep, and bunny. Once you were finished making and gluing on your creature to your thin piece of wood you went over to one of the teachers with a hairdryer and dried your creature onto your thin piece of wood.Once that was over you walked over to another stand and picked out a bow that was hot glued to your thin piece of wood. Finally you went back to your class room and continued your day.
Mansion's Superheroes

In this article, we are going to talk about the January virtual ROAR Rally. It was about the new S and made it ROARS. The S stands for Safety, which means students still need to wear their masks properly at school. Then the villains came in and the Cat Lady said “More Tuna, More tuna, More Tunaaa.” Finally, they talked about how people want to eat other food than tuna. That was the sum up of January's “ROARS” Rally.

The first Friday of every month the school has a Roar Rally. It's mostly hosted by the principal, teachers, and the counselors. At the Roar Rallys we have student of the month, school announcements, we go over winners if we had any contest, the spirit committee will usually do some type of song or dance, and we have skits! For the students of the month they pick a student from each class in each grade and they get a certificate.
School announcements are if the principal wants to help go over the R.O.A.R expectations or if there is big news ( like one time we got new swings put in) the spirit committee is a big group of 6th graders that help hype up the rally. They stand in a row down the gym room and give people high fives ( while they are dressed up in yellow and green) then they go up to the front and sing songs or do dances.
But the skits are probably everyone's favorite. Each year there is a different theme, for example this year is Toy story. They do different skits on how the people can show R.O.A.R! This year is very different though because we are doing everything virtually, but they still found a way to manage!
Roars For More!
By Animation Freak
Have you ever heard of the roars store? Well it is one fun place! You can buy privileges, stuffed animals, lanyards and so much more. At the ROAR store they have it all! All you have to do is hand in your paws, and tada you have a cool new prize.
Some kids like to spend their paws on privileges, like having lunch with the principal (100 paws). Here are some other popular privileges, such as teaching assistant in gym, reading to another class, picking the music for the announcement and the list just keeps going on. Personally I really like the read to another class reward because I always visit my old teachers' classes. The ROARS store is not all about the privileges and toys it is also about who runs it, so let's hear from her.
Me: How long have you been working at Mas?
Miss Mas: I have been working here for 27 years.
Me: How long have you been running the roar store?
Miss Mas: About 5 years.
Newspaper: What is the best thing you could get at the roar store?
Miss Mass: I think read to another class because it is all about reading and having a good time.
Newspaper: Why do you like doing the Roars store?
Miss Mas: Being able to interact with the students.
Newspaper: What is your favorite book because you work at the school library?
Miss Mas: Mandy.
As you now see that the ROARS store isn't only about the things that you can buy but about the people who make the ROARS store amazing.
