The "What Grinds My Gears" editorial article allows MBMS journalists to rant about mundane topics as a short editorial--making silly, everyday occurrences witty, intelligent, and clever.
A staple in every TCC edition, WGMG was inspired by the classic episode of Family Guy, where Peter vents on the local TV news.
As former Editor-in-Chief Mackenzie Brown (2010-2011) described it, often times WGMG is "yelling when a whisper would suffice."
The segment ‘What Grinds My Gears’ is presented as opinion and does not express the views of all MBMS students or The Canine Chronicle. If you would like to express your opinion, write us a letter and you may be published in our next edition.

You know what grinds my gears!? Crows.
Crows are the most annoying animal alive. They mess up your garbage and wake you up in the morning. All they do is squawk and squawk!
Every time I hear the treacherous voice that comes out of a crow’s throat, for some reason it’s at five in the morning. They’re awful.
Not only are they loud, but they are disgusting. They dig through your garbage and make an enormous mess. It’s called garbage for a reason; nobody wants it. Except apparently crows!
“But they’re so cute!” you say.
They’re not. They’re really not. Not at all.
Have you ever looked into a crow’s cold dead eyes? Probably not. Well, you should. Then you see how deep of an abyss is in a crow’s soul and how much joy and pleasure they get from waking you up at five in the morning.
Now you are wondering, “What did we do for our society to be cursed with such foul beings?” We did nothing, but sometimes life is just unfair.
Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to live with hindrance to the Earth until the end of time.
And THAT is what grinds my gears!

You know what grinds my gears!? Mittens.
I CANNOT STAND MITTENS. First of all, why wear mittens when gloves exist-? Secondly, how in THE WORLD are you supposed to pick anything up when you wear mittens? Honestly, there is no reason to ever wear mittens.
No hate, but if you prefer mittens over gloves, why? Just why? Mittens only purpose, along with gloves, is to keep your hands warm. However, at least with gloves you can move your fingers and thumb. With mittens all you can do is move your thumb…
WHY WOULD I NEED TO MOVE MY THUMB IF I CAN’T MOVE MY FINGERS???
On to my last point, snow is cold. What do you do with snow, make a snowman, snowball fight, maybe even eat it. Who knows, what you do with snow is your business.
Doing all those things you wear gloves, or mittens. And for the people who wear mittens… is it not difficult to roll the snow or pick it up? You know, since you can't move your fingers.
But, if you wore gloves, you wouldn’t have to worry about that. In conclusion, you should never wear mittens ever again in your ENTIRE life.

You know what grinds my gears!? The piece on the side of notebook paper.
It bugs me because it honestly just looks super weird to me I don't really know why and it makes my brain go CRAZY!!!!
One thing I will never understand is why don't people just take the time to not do it fast and avoid the paper looking like that. That is one thing I don't like taking notes because that happens all the time to me and I bet you.
Another thing that bugs me is when after you rip it, there are the remains in the silver part of the spiral and sometimes it takes me forever to get it.
And I never have known why it does that like and sometimes I have to like dig my pencil in to get it and it takes a while. And those two things combined ugh! It bugs me so much and I don't know why.
And THAT is what grinds my gears!

You know what grinds my gears!? When the Seahawks lose!
The offense is performing. They are scoring the points. Just when you think the Seahawks may actually make it the Superbowl, you realize their defense is dragging them down.
It is limiting the Seahawk’s potential to win every game. It is not because their players are not good enough, it is the way they are playing that is too predictable. Their defensive “schemes” are the same ones from 10 years ago and the opposing offenses see right through them.
Some blame Ken Norton Jr., the defensive coordinator, while others claim it’s really head coach Pete Carroll calling the plays. Whoever it is, the Seahawks aren’t winning hard games.
It shows how essential the offense and defense of a team both are. The beginning of the season proves how an offense can pull to victory, even when the defense fails to do so.
A few games have proved that defense needs to live up to the offense’s standards to win against harder teams. When the Seahawks lose and you know they could have won, had the defense played the right game, it hurts.

You know what grinds my gears!? Picking up after others.
I cannot describe my annoyance of picking up after others. Imagine spending hours cleaning the house only for it to last a few minutes because some jerk (I'm talking about my brother) left trash...just a FEW minutes later, and then you have to pick it up!
It's like when you almost finish washing the dishes but then someone comes and puts extra dishes and you have to do extra work you didn't want! That's what it is like!
Not only that but you HAVE to pick up because when one has strict parents.... you definitely don't want to get in trouble. It's either meeting my friend, Chancla again or my other friend Cinto. My advice: stay clear of them.
But still! I don't want to pick after you nasty people that leave trash around. Whatever trash you leave that's your responsibility, not others to pick up!
I swear that those that leave trash around are one of the worst kind of people! They are nasty, inconsiderate, and evil people! Why do you make us suffer! I just don't and won't understand you people!
And THAT is what grinds my gears!
