You are now going to design and create a simple card or board game. There is only one requirement about this game - it should not use dice!
Instead you might want to make a set of cards to include a randomisation factor. You'll find a word document with blank cards at the bottom of this page that you can use to make cards for your game.
Your teacher will also supply other paper, pens and stationary that you could use to make your game
Once you have completed your game you should
Playtest the game to make sure that it is fun to play - you may wish to change the game rules depending on what you discover
Write up the rules, so other people can read them and learn how to play
Let other groups play test the game (acceptance or beta testing)
Listen to what other people think of the game, and potentially make further changes
Stuck for ideas?
The sections below include some ideas that you could use. You can use as many or as little as you like:
Player pieces move a set amount each turn
Player pieces can be moved by playing cards
Get to the end of the board
Collect several items
The board is the same all the time, you draw it on paper
The board is drawn randomly from cards, or random cards are placed on the board
You can collect resources from the board
You can use cards as resources
You can spend resources to move or win or something similar
You can play cards in your turn for an advantage
You can play cards on other people for a disadvantage
