The first step of creating you project is to select what your project will be. Read the SQA instructions on your project. The first section, which includes a description of what your project has to include and examples of what makes a valid project is reproduced below.
Some of the requirements may not be familiar to you yet. They will be covered later in the Advanced Higher course. Your teacher can provide guidance on whether or not your project idea is suitable. A good idea is to choose a project that would have clients or stakeholders within school - you can use what you learn about requirements capture to help analyse your project later on
You should complete the project suitability checklist from the SQA instructions, either by creating an electronic document or by printing it out and filling it in.
You've just created your first bit of project documentation. Good management of your documentation is essential in your project.
You can either keep documentation electronically, physically in a ring binder or a combination of both. Ultimately you'll need to print out the final version of your document to submit to the SQA
Though it is not required, it is a good idea to keep a project diary. This is simply a record what you have completed in your project and what evidence you have generated. It will help you collate the necessary evidence to submit for marking. A diary pro-forma is included below as a suggestion .
