All pupils are expected to be highly committed to the course with excellent lesson attendance. Pupils are examined on group performances and therefore all absences impact not only the individual who is absent, but also their entire cast. Due to the practical nature of the subject, key learning often takes place in the classroom and cannot be completed as successfully independently through online resources.
All pupils and are expected to regularly check Google Classroom and are responsible to catch up on any missed work, including homework.
All pupils are expected to spend time revising. This could include, but is not limited to: drama terminology for acting and design, dramatic conventions and rehearsal techniques, production information, quotes and moments from plays and productions, play contextual information, theories and practises of theatre practitioners.
All pupils are expected to learn their lines for their exam pieces as early as possible. They should spend time at home practising their lines, as well as their drama skills, such as use of voice and movement.
All pupils are expected to complete all homework assignments on time, and to their highest standard.
Leading up to the practical exam, all pupils are expected to complete extra rehearsals during lunchtimes and, when possible, after school. It is expected that pupils are organised and reliable and attend arranged rehearsals; all cast members and staff need to be informed in advance of any cancellations.
All pupils should develop their performances based on research and rehearsal techniques; they should keep a log of the progression of their practical work.
All pupils are expected to read the whole play that they are studying/performing, and complete research on them.
All pupils are expected to take holidays outside of school term time, as the practical examinations can take place any time during the Spring and Summer terms.
