All staff and students are expected to follow our 4 Character Traits of being:
Respectful: to show due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others.
Responsible: the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization
Safe: to protect from or not expose to danger or risk
Kind: to be considerate (caring) or helpful to others
Students who are struggling or in need of behavior support may be referred to a member of the Student Services Team. We provide a therapeutic approach to assist the student with the goal to return back to the classroom.
Teachers runs monthly SEL lessons in the classroom using the 2nd Step Program. Career Education is integrated into classroom lessons and online with Xello software.
Arts Academy Elementary Charter School implements a progressive discipline policy. First-time offenses for minor behaviors are mediated through the teachers’ classroom behavior modification systems, redirection, verbal warnings or teacher conferences. Repeat or more severe behaviors may warrant actions ranging from temporary removal from the classroom to process the incident to in-school or out-of-school suspensions.
