Our Aladdin, Jr! peformance at the Miller Sympony Hall Musical, featuring all 4th and 5th grade students. All costumes, props, set design, decorations and makeup were created by the Arts and Tech Major students!
All students have Visual Art in grades K-5. Our arts program promotes creativity in all settings, with any medium and celebrates the art of our local community!
All students have Music class in grades K-5 and participate in multiple performances both in-house, school-wide and/or out in the community.
All students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to sign up for an instrument. Students may borrow an AAECS-owned instrument or we will lease on for you, at no cost to our families. Click the link above to learn more!
All students have Theatre in grades K-5! They learn to read with emotion, to interpret literature, to understand all aspects of a stage performance and to act in various settings! Our students graduate elementary school being well-versed in the art of creative expression and public speaking!
All students have Dance class in grades K-5. Students learn the core principles of dance related to time, space, movement, cultural & historical connections and critical response. Students have the opportunity to perform for peers during the school day, for families and the community outside of the school day.
All students in grades K-5 participate in weekly Creative Movement classes, an arts program unique to AAECS! Students engage in basic gymnastics learning movement, balance and creative expression. This class includes lessons in Mindfulness, teaching students to recognize how their emotions impact their physical being and teaches strategies for students to manage, process and express their feelings.
All students K-5 have weekly library classes as part of their arts rotation. Not only do students have opportunities to interact with books, reading, and literacy, but they learn about technology and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). This includes a focus on 21st Century skills: creative thinking, collaboration, the design process, and presenting their ideas clearly to their peers or other authentic audiences. Students have opportunities to use many different resources from our ever-growing collections of materials. The library also hosts our Scholastic Book Fair!
All students in 4th and 5th grade select an arts subject as their major for the 2nd semester of the school year. The arts major centers around a musical performance, in which all students participate, either on-stage or off-stage.
