Beginning in 2017, our program decided to separated interviews (done remotely via video) from your in-person visit to our program, with the goal of addressing the scheduling and financial challenges you experience during interview season. We transitioned our applicant visit days to virtual events during the COVID pandemic, with applicants noting they were still able to get a good sense of the program through their conversations with our residents. As a result, we will continue to hold our applicant visit events virtually, to continue to try help mitigate financial challenges for applicants.
The video below describes our interview and virtual visit process in more detail.
Schedule your remote interview half day through Thalamus.
Join us for your video interviews on the half day that is most convenient for you.
If you have applied to our Primary Care Track or Integrated IM/Geriatrics Track, our goal is for you to interview with one of our Primary Care Track APDs (or Geriatrics faculty, if applicable), so certain half days have been set aside specifically for these interviews.
Complete the Pre-Interview Information Form/Survey in Thalamus as soon as you schedule your interview half day.
Here, you can provide additional information that allows our conversation during the interview to focus on getting to know you better. Please complete it as soon as possible (at at least 1 week before your interview) so that we have time to review your responses.
The survey form can be accessed in the "My Surveys" section of your Thalamus dashboard and/or by clicking on your scheduled interview date (click on Survey "edit answers").
Attend a virtual applicant visit day event for an opportunity to learn more about the program and to meet our residents. This will allow you to get to know our program and community better by talking with our residents.
As part of the recruitment experience, you also are invited to participate in our virtual Institutional Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Open House, which will take place in November. This GME-wide event will showcase the goals we have set and the progress we have made in these important areas of development. Attending this event is purely voluntary for those who are interested, and it will not impact your standing in our program. If you're interested in attending the DEI event, you can register and obtain additional information here.
More details about the interview process and our virtual visit events are in the next few pages.
** Note: We do not record the video interviews and will not be recording the virtual applicant visit events.
We have utilized this process of video interviews separated from applicant visit days and augmented by this special website since 2017. We pioneered this innovation (now also used by many other programs ever since COVID) in order to make residency interviews more flexible and less expensive for applicants.
