We are national leaders in education in Quality Improvement (QI) and patient safety, with focused time during the four week longitudinal “BETTER” curriculum, where each resident participates in interactive sessions applying QI principles to the local context and completes a mentored project linked to an institutional priority.
There are also multiple other educational and mentorship opportunities in QI and Research (more details below).

All residents complete some type of scholarly project. The extent, topic and type of project is individualized based on their career goals.
Our program has multiple ways we support your research, educational opportunities in research, and even protected research time through research electives.

A Director of Graduate Medical Education Research and multiple dedicated faculty research mentors and educators, all of whom teach and provide supplemental mentorship to residents.

We have multiple options for research rotation electives. These include:

Research 1 (available to both interns & senior residents)

Research 3
With these options, residents interested in research can have protected research time throughout all 3 years of residency. Residents may complete up to 3 total research electives over 3 years, in all sorts of research.
If they have already completed Research 1, residents may use the Research 2 & 3 electives to build upon their prior work or to take on new projects.
