Midtown Cluster Rezoning 2023-24SY Process
On August 8th, the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education authorized the creation of a new elementary school (ES) in the Midtown Cluster. As a result, Atlanta Public Schools is modifying the attendance zone boundaries of Mary Lin ES, Morningside ES, Springdale Park ES, as well as minor changes to the attendance zone boundaries (the minor changes impact no currently enrolled APS students) of Garden Hills ES, Howard MS, Sutton MS, Midtown HS, and North Atlanta HS. The updated maps can be found at www.atlantapublicschools.us/fmp.
Only families that received direct notification are impacted by the re-zoning in the Midtown Cluster for SY2023-24.

On November 17, 2022, we hosted a virtual Q&A session to answer any legacy (known as "grandfathering" per APS board policy) and transfer questions.

Do you have a rising 4th or 5th grader in the 2023-24 school year?
If so, they are considered a legacy student and may continue their studies to completion at the school they are currently attending, if they provide their own transportation and declare their choice by the timeline outlined above.

Do you have a sibling of a legacy student?
If the sibling will be in Kindergarten through 3rd grade in the 2023-2024 school year, they may apply to join their sibling and complete their studies at their transfer school. They will receive guaranteed admission but must provide their own transportation. In order to streamline the process, parents will be able to complete one form that notifies APS of their decision for their 4th/5th grade student as well as any rising Kindergarten through third grade students.

Do you have a non-sibling, rising Kindergarten through 3rd grader in the 2023-24 school year?
If so, they may apply for a general administrative transfer to attend your current school, if they provide their own transportation and declare their choice by the timeline outlined above.
