This recorded session explores the Simple View of Reading as a framework for Structured Literacy and how this lens supports educators in effectively determining the area of needs for students in order to intensify instruction accordingly within a Multi-Layered System of Supports. Furthermore, participants will consider how embedding this work into routine instructional practice increases efficiency and improves outcomes.
This session provides an overview of the ELA Adoption process, an overview of what Structured Literacy is and isn't, and then describes Structured Literacy within the MLSS layers. Finally, this presentation provides some considerations for participants looking to move forward in their implementation of Structured Literacy within an MLSS framework at their school site. The recording for this session is linked here.
This session brings together the following frameworks/strategies within APS:
APS Goals & Guardrails
Community School Key Practices
MLSS Core Components
Structured Literacy Framework from LETRS for Administrators
Participants will review these frameworks at various perspectives to see how they interrelate to create collective impact at the system, school and classroom level. The objective is for school leaders to build connections that will help integrate and leverage these frameworks and strategies for transformation & collective impact.
