Teacher Spotlight - Ms. Hanrath (Art)
By: Astha Tripathy
This week we interviewed Ms. Hanrath, who teaches Art. Keep reading to see her interesting answers to our interview questions.
How would you compare your middle school experience to now?
"My middle school was A LOT smaller than TE. There were only about 100 kids in my grade, so everyone knew everyone! We also didn't have teams or homerooms. My town was so small that the high school and middle school were one connected building!"
How many years have you taught?
"This is my second year teaching at TE."
Did you have any other jobs before working at TE?
"Yes! When I was in high school I worked for my town's parks and recreation, and at a local pizza restaurant. In college, I worked at a shoe store, as a graphic designer, and as a Graduate Assistant at CCSU."
What is your hidden talent?
"I can solve a Rubik's Cube!"
How did you realize you wanted to be a teacher?
"My mom is a teacher, and she is one of my biggest role models! Because of her, I knew that I also wanted to become a teacher."
What superpower would you choose for yourself?
"If could choose a superpower, it would be to fly!"
What's the best part of your day?
"The best part of my day is making awesome pieces of art with all of my students."
If you weren't a teacher, what would you want to be?
"If I was not a teacher, I would want to be working at Disney World as an Imagineer doing Graphic Design."
Stay tuned for more interviews with teachers!
River (Poem)
By: Harveen Kaur
From mountains to oceans I go
A huge chain of water flows
Can stretch between many countries
With many fish to make you hungry
The river runs fast as it rumbles and rumbles
Though many rocks may make it stumble
On a map there's you’ll see 1 then around 165
Many of them still are alive
