At Central Cabarrus STEM our students engage in PBL's and personally driven projects to solve problems they see on and off campus. Our students complete projects that not only benefit their own personal grades but also contribute to help solve problems for others. Our students built a new band tower for the band department, a suspension bridge for a neighboring elementary school, and constructed a low ropes course for another school. Below are some of the different example of our students taking the lead to solve a problem!

Engineering Design students used the STEM Design Cycle to design, prototype, and create cardboard furniture that was built for aesthetics and for functionality. Designs were displayed for other classrooms and the community during our school curriculum night.

Technology Engineering Design

Technological Design students use the engineering design cycle to design, prototype, and create robotic hydraulic systems made from cardboard and other materials in the classroom. The designs were done using the Universal Design model.

Physics and Chemistry
STEM Physics students work through G-Force calculations in preparation for building Marble Coasters. The Marble Coasters had to be within safe G-Force levels before they could be constructed.
STEM Chemistry students worked through the progression of a firework display using the chemical composition of the firework to explain the colors. The students had to consult with AP Psychology students to explain the color progression of a fireworks display.
