Q: Will hub stops be provided?
A: Yes! As of right now the hub stops are for Central Cabarrus High STEM are Concord High and Hickory Ridge High. Hub stops are based on student need and may change. For the most up to date information- visit the Program Choice website at: https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/Page/53143
Q: Can my child ride the bus?
A: Only students who are zoned for Central Cabarrus High School may ride the regular route for school bus transportation. If you live in another high school attendance zone, then the hub stops are your only bus transportation option.
Q: How is a STEM course schedule different than a regular high school schedule?
A: All courses offered at CCHS are available to STEM students. There are certain courses who are reserved specifically for STEM students as a part of the STEM pathway. Learn more about our pathways here!
Q: Will my child have a counselor to help with course selection?
A: Yes! Your child will have a counselor to help guide them through course selection! They are sorted by alpha range of last name! Learn more by visiting our student services/counselor website here!

Q: How is the STEM program different from the regular high school experience?
A: Our STEM program offers the opportunity for students to explore all different areas of STEM: from robotics to drafting to engineering.! As students begin to narrow down their post secondary journey, they will have been exposed to many different STEM areas! We also focus on Problem and Challenge Based Learning as a main instructional strategy in all of our STEM courses. STEM students also participate in grade level projects that help solve real world STEM problems!
Q: How is the STEM experience differentiated to meet the needs of learners?
A: We offer access to College Career Promise courses and a wealth of AP options! We also offer three rigorous STEM diploma tracks: Honors, AP, and Capstone! To learn more about these STEM diploma tracks, click here.
Q: What is a Capstone Diploma?
A: Students are required to take two yearlong courses: AP Seminar and AP Research during their junior and senior years. Learn more about capstone diploma options by click here!
Q: Do I graduate with a STEM Diploma and STEM Stole?
A: Students who complete one of the three STEM diploma tracks will earn a STEM diploma at high school graduation. Students who complete the Capstone Diploma Track will earn a STEM diploma and a Capstone diploma. Students who complete the STEM Portfolio throughout their four years, will receive the STEM stole. Q: What extracurricular opportunities are available to STEM students?
A: We offer many extracurricular opportunities for our STEM students! Some examples are robotics, STEM Think Tank (like a STEM student council), Beta Club, Technology Students Association, and Coding Clubs!
Q: Are STEM students still allowed to participate in sports, band, and chorus?
A: Yes! All STEM students have access to school events, clubs, and athletics organizations! In fact, we encourage them to participate in these activities to help create and maintain a well-rounded high school experience!
