Does it offer "learners and communities transformative education in a global context that fosters innovation and inspires social action?"
Does it motivate students to see how the course is relevant to their lives?
Does it offer some choice for students to demonstrate their learning in a way that leverages their strengths?
Does your syllabus header contain:
Your course number, name and section?
The term the course will be taught?
The number of quarter-credit or semester credits it is worth?
Your instructor contact information?
The dates, times, location (and Zoom link if meeting online) of any course meetings?
Course Description and prerequisites from the catalog?
Does your program have Program Learning Objectives that should be included?
Do your Course Learning Objectives match the ones that have been approved for this course in this program so that all students are meeting the same objectives regardless of what section they take?
Required Reading, Videos and Resources
Do your required course materials offer a wide array of perspectives from authors with a variety of backgrounds?
Are all of your required textbooks, readings and videos that must be purchased listed on the syllabus?
Do all required online articles, videos and resources have a working link on the syllabus and in Sakai?
Have you included all Evaluation Criteria including:
Each assignment's details including when it is due and how much it is worth;
Rubrics or other explanation of how things will be graded;
Categories of activities and how much each category is worth in points or percentages? (e.g. Class participation or discussion forums, writing assignments, projects, and other activities)
Grading schema for how your program relates narrative evaluation to graded assignments? (Examples below)
Does your syllabus include a week-by-week or modular schedule for reading and activities so student can plan ahead?
Do your week-by-week activities match up with the Carnegie unit hours required for accreditation?
3 semester-credits = 135 hours of instruction and student work (45 hours per credit)
3 quarter-credits = 90 hours of instruction and student work (30 hours per credit)
Class meeting, readings, videos, activities, discussion forums, presentations, assessments, writing and all other assignments count toward instruction and student work.
