Panopto is a video creation and sharing tool with a built in video editor. Students, staff and faculty have access to all features in Panopto.
Panopto is excellent for recording videos, uploading videos and can be used to share and edit videos you made in another tool (like Zoom) or on another device (like your mobile phone.) It is not intended to store videos owned by outside creators like those on YouTube or Vimeo or other online locations unless you have permission to download a copy.
Panopto also integrates with Brightspace to allow students, staff and faculty to record, upload and submit videos in Assignments, Discussions, and in any tool when users have access to the editor, like Email, Announcements, Assignment Feedback, Quizzes and more.
It can also be used as a standalone product for Antioch users to create, edit and share videos for any academic (non-commercial) purpose. For example, students might create individual or group presentations and/or record discussion responses, field work or video assignments. Faculty might record lectures and post them in Brightspace, or use Panopto to record themselves giving assignment instructions or assignment feedback instead of, or in addition to, written feedback. Alumni only have access to view videos available to the general public.
Event recordings like the AU Student Success Symposium, or other webinars can be uploaded, edited and shared with the Antioch Community, the general public, individual members, and/or specific groups.
You can access Panopto in AUDirect by clicking the green Panopto icon in the Services pane on the left sidebar. You may be asked to login when you attempt to watch a Panopto video or use the Insert Stuff tool in Brightspace. Always use the Antioch SSO for login purposes.
Please be aware that you must have written permission from any student who appears or speaks in your video to share with:
Antioch students who are not in the course,
Antioch employees who do not have a "need to know," OR
any Antioch alumni or members of the general public
This means you should NOT use the sharing permissions "Public (unlisted) - Anyone with the link can view" OR "Public - Anyone can view" if a student other than you appears in your video and you don't have written permission.
